Switching to ‘smart’ energy efficient streetlights 

The city has converted most of its traffic signals to light-emitting diode (LED) lights, resulting in annual energy savings of $350,000 per year. In addition, the city and OUC are collaborating on a “smart” streetlight pilot to improve traffic signaling, bike and pedestrian safety, air quality monitoring, WiFi hotspots and more.
