Apply to be part of the OPD Hispanic Citizen Police Academy (HCPA). This is a five-week course, taught in Spanish, to discuss various police-related topics and have a an up-close look at OPD tools and technology.

Step 1.Check your eligibility

The Hispanic Citizens Police Academy (HCPA) meets for five consecutive Wednesdays beginning April 2 and ending April 30, 2025. Sessions are held from 6 to 9 p.m. each week at 100 George DeSalvia Way. Please be sure you can commit to these times and dates.

Additionally, all sessions are conducted in Spanish only. You must be at least 18 years old to participate.

Step 2.Gather your information

For the application, you will need to provide some information. Please have these readily available when filling out the application.

  • Your contact information.
  • Driver's License of ID number.
  • Responses to why you want to join the HCPA.
  • Names and addresses for two character references. 

Step 3.Submit your application

We give careful, individual attention to each applicant. We strongly encourage you to answer each question completely and the to best of your ability.

Step 4.We will be in touch

After submitting your online application, and successful completion of a background check, you will receive final approval by the Orlando Police Department. If accepted, we will guide you towards your next steps.
