The CAO ensures the City’s operating departments are delivering the required services in a consistent, efficient and responsible manner while providing commendable customer service. This office provides guidance, direction, coordination and leadership of City services and initiatives. We measure performance and establish accountability.

In accordance with the City Charter, adopted on February 4, 1885, the City of Orlando operates under a Mayor/Council form of government. Mayor, Buddy Dyer, serves as the chief executive officer. Historically, City mayors have appointed a Chief Administrative Officer to assist with the day-to-day administration of City operations and ensure effective implementation of policies adopted by City Council.
