Are you a Portuguese speaking resident interested in learning about the Orlando Police Department?

Apply to be part of the OPD Portuguese Speaking Citizen Police Academy. This is a five-week course, taught in Portuguese, to discuss various police-related topics and have a an up-close look at OPD tools and technology.

Step 1.Check your eligibility

The Portuguese Speaking Citizens Police Academy meets for five consecutive Tuesdays beginning August 8, 2023. Sessions are held from 6 to 9 p.m. each week at 1250 West South Street. Please be sure you can commit to these times and dates. Additionally, all sessions are conducted in Portuguese only. You must be at least 18 years old to participate.

Step 2.Gather your information

For the application, you will need to provide some information. Please have these readily available when filling out the application.

  • Your contact information.
  • Driver's License of ID number.
  • Responses to why you want to join the academy.
  • Names and addresses for two character references. 

Step 3.Submit your application

We give careful, individual attention to each applicant. We strongly encourage you to answer each question completely and the to best of your ability.
