What to expect during the hiring process:

  • If you're selected to move forward, we'll get back to you within 2-4 weeks to set up an interview.
  • If you're selected for the job after the interview, we'll make an offer in 1-2 weeks.
  • A criminal background check, medical exam and drug screen will be requested within 2 weeks of receiving an offer. A polygraph test will also be required for some security, cash-handling and other high-trust positions.
  • From the day you apply to your first day on the job, this process can take up to about 90 days.

Clerical Testing

Tests are administered by invitation only. Only applicants meeting minimum qualifications will be invited. Tests are administered by third party vendor, eSkills. Applicants are allowed one opportunity to pass the typing test within a posting period or any given 30 days. Scores are valid for one year.

Additional Testing

Applicants selected for employment must pass a criminal background check and a medical exam including a drug screen. Final candidates for security, cash-handling positions, and any other positions required by the City of Orlando will be polygraphed.
