Apply for a Parklet in Orlando

Do you want a parklet in the Downtown Orlando Community Redevelopment Area or Orlando Main Street District?
 
Eligible businesses can apply to have a dining or main street community parklet.

Step 1.Check your eligibility

Applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements:

  • Dining Parklet: An approved and operating restaurant or cafe next to the parklet site must own and operate the parklet. The business must generate at least 51% of its gross revenue from food and non-alcoholic beverages. Restaurants and cafes must also meet parking requirements. Impact fees may apply and will be determined during the application process.
  • Main Street Community Parklets: Each Main Street District must own and operate the parklet. Parklets are limited in number and placement and are administered by the Main Street Director.

Step 2.Prepare your pre-application documents

Please review the Parklet Policy and gather the following documents before applying:

  • Businesses within the CRA/DBB area will be required to submit a HPB or ARB site approval
  • Parklet business operator name and parklet location
  • A scaled site plan and aerial map showing the parklet area, dimensions, table and chair placement and points of user access
  • Written support from adjacent property owner
  • Proposed parklet manufacturer name, product cutsheets and dimensions
  • A full operations description, including hours of operation and trash control plans
  • A copy of an active business tax receipt (if applicable)
  • A copy of an Alcohol Beverage License (if applicable)

Step 3.Submit a Parklet pre-application

Fill out the pre-application form for staff review. This form covers parklet requirements, features, and guidelines for a complete application. Review the Parklet Policy to ensure you meet all requirements.

After you submit your form, staff will send it to Planning for an Appearance Review and to Legal to prepare the ROW Encroachment Agreement. You’ll also need to provide proof of insurance at this stage.

Step 4.We will review your pre-application

Staff will review your application within 10 business days and let you know the next steps.

  • If approved, you will receive a pre-application approval letter that you will include in your right-of-way permit application.
  • If not approved, you will be notified by email of revisions needed.

Step 5.Submit a Right-of-Way (ROW) permit application

Once staff approves your pre-application, you can submit a Right-of-Way (ROW) permit application to request permission to use the parklet space. Include the following with your application:

  • Approved pre-application letter

Step 6.Upload Your Plans and Documents

The digital applicant listed will receive an email invitation to upload plans and documents when approved. Submit your site plan showing the parklet area, measurements, table and chair placement, and access points documents online. Use our upload guide for assistance with the process.

Your upload documents should include:

  • Approved pre-application packet
  • Planning and legal approvals
  • A site plan including the parklet area, measurements, table and chair or picnic table placement, and access points
  • Proposed parklet manufacturer name, product cutsheets, and dimensions

Step 7.Check your plan status

Step 8.Pay your fees

After all reviews are completed and approved, you will be emailed a billing summary, if applicable, which can be paid via PermitLookup.

Step 9.Download permit and plans

After you pay the fees, we will email you when your plans are ready to download in ProjectDox. Print the approved plans to scale and post them at the job site.

Step 10.Schedule an inspection

Prior to installing your parklet, email Parklets@orlando.gov 48 hours before installation to schedule a pre-inspection for placement.

A final inspection will be required and need to be scheduled upon completion of installation.
