Lake Orlando Parkway Separated Bicycle Lane Quick-Build Project

The City of Orlando is implementing a quick-build separated bicycle lane and intersection improvements on Lake Orlando Parkway from North Lane to Long Road.

Quick Builds use flexible, temporary materials to create safer spaces.

Project Limits

This project runs along Lake Orlando Parkway from North Lane to Long Road, as shown in the map below.

Improvements

This project includes:

  • Vertical bike lane protections using low-profile traffic separators to separate bicyclists and vehicles. 

The objective of this improvement is to increase bicyclist safety along Lake Orlando Parkway.

This project was identified as demonstration project in the 2020 Bike Plan Update as they would ideally improve the connectivity of the Orlando bike network and support increased bike safety. Evaluation goals for this project may include the following: 

  • Pedestrian and bicyclist connectivity and comfort
  • Travel options
  • Speed management
  • Safety
  • Public use 
  • Business exposure
