We are excited to share that Tennis Professional Ben Shelton made a surprise visit to our facility this past month. Members and guests were excited to see Ben in action; he spent his time here working with Bose to promote their newest music accessories. You never know who you'll see out on the courts!

National Pickleball Day - August 8

Celebrate National Pickleball Day here with us at OTC. This month we want to encourage you to pick up a paddle and learn the game of pickleball! Pickleball is a great way to stay healthy, get a workout in and a fun excuse to get outside this summer. OTC has a state-of-the-art pickleball machine to help you perfect your strokes. Ask a staff member about our ball machine rental fees!

Nutrition Column: The Fresh Serve

Snacks That Keep You Hydrated

Last month on The Fresh Serve, we highlighted the importance of electrolytes and shared several drink options to help you stay hydrated during the Florida summer heat. This month we will be directing our focus to hydrating foods.

Many Fruits, vegetables, some dairy, broths and soups can be extremely hydrating especially on a hot summer day. Here's a few great snack options to help you stay hydrated:

  • Produce (90%+ Water): Watermelon, strawberries, cantaloupe, peaches, oranges, grapefruit, cucumber, lettuce, zucchini, celery, tomatoes, bell peppers, cauliflower, and cabbage.
  • Dairy and Drinks (80%+ Water): Coconut water (95%), broths/soups (98%), plain yogurt (88%), milk (89%) and cottage cheese (80%)

A simple recipe to boost your water intake measure out one cup of cottage cheese and top with your favorite hydrating fruit, such as strawberries or peaches. The cottage cheese provides about 25 grams of protein, while the fruit adds a refreshing dose of extra hydration and fiber.

Note: As with any dietary change, it is recommended that you consult with your healthcare provider or a registered dietitian before shifting your nutritional habits.

Rules Corner

Our guidelines are in place to keep the facility running smoothly and ensure everyone has a safe, enjoyable experience. We kindly ask that you keep these rules in mind:

  • Court reservation will reopen 10 minutes after set time if party doesn't show.
  • No music, animals or dogs are allowed on the courts or inside the OTC.
