By offering education, health and wellness, and career skills programs, the City of Orlando is committed to providing opportunities that help our young residents thrive, while preparing them for successful futures.
- Launched in 2006, the Parramore Kidz Zone offers education programs, access to health care, mentoring, tutoring, athletics, and college-access assistance to reduce juvenile crime and teen pregnancy and improve academic performance in the Parramore Heritage Community.
- After-school programs in community centers include tutoring from certified teachers, instructing in reading, math, science, technology, and the arts. Tutors are helping close the learning gap that often occurs among disadvantaged students.
- Initiatives in city youth programs provide students with pre-job training and mentoring, exposing students to different jobs that exist in their community and giving them the skills necessary to apply for and succeed in getting their first job and turning it into a career.
