Together, Here by Jessica King
Whatever it is, it is unimportant here
Waist deep in brackish water, tangled in river and sea
Whatever it is, it is quiet now In the symphony of twilight-
rustling pines, the gopher frogs, and you In the darkness, our lonely moon
cloaks crane and ibis in light
while the cats and coyotes flash in silver and shadow,
weaving like thread between cypress and oak,
and the finned creatures slip and shimmy and shine
Together we move through the night,
here where only stars shoot,
where only mosquitoes bite
