City of Orlando Celebrates Orlando Kidz Zone Graduation
Last updated on May 06, 2026
WHAT:
On Wednesday, May 6, 2026, Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer will join City Commissioners, families and students to celebrate the graduation of dozens of participants in the City of Orlando’s Families, Parks and Recreation Orlando Kidz Zone programs. The celebration will also provide the opportunity to reflect on the 20th anniversary of the Parramore Kidz Zone as graduates will share their stories and celebrate their achievements that reflect the lasting impact of the OKZ programs.
What began as an after-school initiative has grown into a transformative community investment as many alumni have gone on to college, professional careers and, notably, have returned to serve and uplift the very communities where they grew up, creating a cycle of opportunity that continues to build momentum.
Orlando Kidz Zones serve as a cornerstone of the city’s cradle-to-career approach, providing young residents with access to academic support, mentoring, career exposure and health and wellness resources. The graduation ceremony will not only recognize the achievements and perseverance of this year’s students, but also honor the educators, mentors and families whose support has helped make their success possible.
