Grand Opening of Kid-Inspired Hankins Park Playground
Last updated on May 14, 2026
WHAT:
On Friday, April 24, 2026, Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer and District 6 Commissioner Bakari F. Burns will host a ribbon-cutting to celebrate the reopening of the newly renovated playground at Hankins Park.
What makes this project especially meaningful is that children from the Hankins Park Neighborhood Center helped design the playground, selecting equipment, colors, and layout, bringing their vision to life. The upgraded playground features new equipment for ages 2–5 and 5–12, multiple slides, and inclusive amenities including ADA-accessible swings and dual swings, ensuring children of varying abilities can play together.
As part of the city’s ongoing investment in neighborhood parks, Hankins Park playground is one of 11 park and playground renovations planned across Orlando over the next two years. This is part of the city’s efforts to ensure that every neighborhood has a welcoming space where residents can get outdoors and stay active together.
