Mills 50 Midblock Crosswalk Public Meeting

Next date: Tuesday, April 28, 2026 | 06:00 PM to 07:30 PM

The City of Orlando Transportation Department invites the community to attend a public meeting for the proposed Mills 50 Midblock Crosswalk project.

This open-house style meeting will provide residents, businesses, and community members with an opportunity to learn more about the proposed safety enhancements. Attendees can review the project design, ask questions, and share feedback directly with project staff.

Proposed safety improvements include:

  • New midblock crosswalk on Mills Avenue at Canton Street
  • Pedestrian refuge island to support two-stage crossings
  • Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons (RRFBs) to increase driver awareness

The Mills 50 Main Street area is a busy corridor with frequent pedestrian activity, making safe and accessible crossings especially important.

This project supports the city’s Vision Zero goal to eliminate traffic fatalities and serious injuries by improving visibility and creating a safer crossing opportunity on Mills Avenue. The refuge island provides a safe place to pause in the middle of the street, while the flashing beacons help alert drivers when someone is crossing.
