Victoria Samedi - Ocoee High School
It is my great honor to nominate Victoria Samedi for the Orlando Mayor’s MLK Youth Humanitarian Award. As her school counselor, I have witnessed her remarkable leadership, compassion, and dedication to uplifting others. These are qualities that embody Dr. King’s legacy.
Academically accomplished with a 4.9 weighted GPA, Victoria views learning as a means to create change. She aspires to become an OBGYN committed to addressing the maternal mortality crisis among Black women, reflecting both her empathy and advocacy for justice. As Co-President of 3DE, she leads over 40 student leaders and represents more than 600 peers, demonstrating vision and collaboration.
With over 200 hours of community service, including mentoring, tutoring, and teaching Sunday School, Victoria lives Dr. King’s belief that “everybody can be great, because anybody can serve.” Fluent in English and Haitian Creole, she bridges cultures with grace and understanding. Victoria’s integrity, service, and compassion make her a true humanitarian and a shining example of youth leadership in our community.
Victoria also believes that she gains purpose by putting others first and had an epiphany moment that helped her realize that she was a cheerful giver, loved every opportunity to interact with people, enjoyed all the rewards of serving, and had a mindset with no boundaries for connecting with others.
