Mahie Patil

Mahie honors Dr. King’s legacy by most often, compassionately and vigorously advocating for the neurodivergent community. She has earned numerous hours as a volunteer at both Yale and Harvard medical facilities trying to contribute to scientific research involving the designs of interactive health education modules. 

Through Project Vermilion, Mahie has collected over 100 sensory toys to donate to autistic kids, and has given multiple presentations to help the community understand the world of neurodivergence and many of its challenges. Mahie embodies the spirit of Dr. King through her various selfless actions and her unwavering  commitment to justice and equality. Like Dr. King, she very strongly advocates for the end of segregation, and desparately wants to do all she can to eradicate the stigma and social isolation of neurodivergent individuals. 

Mahie strongly believes in giving back and enjoys volunteering for the purpose of observing and learning from other peoples’ perspectives and backgrounds. Her leadership qualities are highlighted and valued through her donated time as Coordinator of the Science National Honor Society, Chair of the STEM Research Club, Founder and President of the Data Science Club, and several other volunteer situations.  Mahie has been awarded an abundance of national and international distinguished honors, which will no doubt, help prepare her to be the high achieving Social Scientist that she is considering.

Because Mahie desires our society to be kinder, and because of her very warm and empathetic spirit, she is definitely a remarkable representative and candidate for the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Humanitarian Award.
