Fifth Place: As You Like It by Dianne Turgeon Richardson
Just beyond the shadow
of mouse ears are castles
constructed from live oaks
and sabal palms where baby
boricua princesses dream
of rainbow queens and wish
upon the graves of orange groves.
Susan Thoughts
"A small but powerful poem that speaks to change, gains and loss in our area."
