Juiced By: Laura Ross
My nieces, aged 3 and 5,
ran through our Central Florida backyard,
past the pool and the pool noodles
to a lone orange tree
ripe with citrus ready for juicing.
A basketful later,
the little girls in pink blinking sneakers
stood on chairs
at the kitchen counter
fixated
as the juicer whirred and
magically dripped sticky, orange gold
into glasses.
A sweet reward,
A lasting memory.
