Florida Raindrops
Birthed in clouds overlooking The Springs,
The smells of summer awaken.

Brushing past the wings of a dragonfly,
Landing on the palm of the tallest tree,
Waiting to fall into the hands
Of the smallest child.

Cascading down tents at farmers' markets,
Cookouts steaming, grills competing
The chime of celebrations echo
With a sky made for the weekend.

Kissing the petals of orange blossoms,
Falling into cups filled with paintbrushes.
Our city is art scene painted in watercolors,
Pooling in the footprints of all walks of life.

A mist of history.
These raindrops have touched the hands
Of our greatest writers, artists, composers, vocalists.

Can even make a home within the pavement,
Linger on windshields,
A soft welcome singing in every puddle,
Always arriving when the city needs it most.

Leandra Diaz, known as SlimTruth, is a spoken word artist, author, coach, and workshop facilitator based in Orlando. She’s nationally ranked and known for using her voice to highlight mental health and uncover personal truths. Founder of Truth Serum, she creates healing spaces through community workshops and creative expression. She coaches an award-winning youth poetry team and collaborates across digital and live platforms. SlimTruth also writes scripts and produces theater, expanding her impact through powerful storytelling.
