WHAT:
The City of Orlando is preparing to adopt a balanced $1.8 billion budget for Fiscal Year 2025/2026 that prioritizes core municipal services and community needs while maintaining the current millage rate.
As part of the annual budget process, Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer and the Orlando City Council will hold its final public hearing Monday to set the millage rate and approve the Fiscal Year 2025/2026 budget. At the recent budget workshop and State of the City address, Mayor Dyer highlighted the city’s guiding budget principle: keeping Orlando safe, connected, and thriving while preparing for the future.
Public Safety First
With public safety investments increasing by $25 million this year, surpassing property tax revenue growth, the city is dedicating more resources than ever to protecting residents. Highlights include:
- Addition of 16 new police officers that prepare for the city’s continued growth
- Proposal of a city-sponsored paramedic school certification program to provide increased advanced life support services to the community
- Providing police officers and firefighters with the tools and training they need to keep residents and businesses safe
Moving Orlando Forward
The proposed budget represents the city’s largest investment to date in mobility infrastructure.
- $7.5 million for roadway pavement rehabilitation projects
- More than $4.3 million forsidewalks,bridges, and trail rehabilitation projects
- Expanded funding for traffic signal upgrades and electronic repairs
- More portable message signs downtown for traffic management during major events
- Launch of a digital way-finding system providing real-time parking and navigation updates
Investing in Neighborhood Life
The city is committed to ensuring Orlando families have access to high-quality parks, playgrounds, and recreational facilities in every neighborhood.
- $4.2 million dedicated to renovations at playgrounds, athletic fields, pools and boat docks
- More than $2.2 million allocated to improvements at recreation centers and parks
The proposed budget reflects the city’s priorities while maintaining flexibility to adapt to changing needs and opportunities.
The city will hold the public hearing at City Hall before adopting the millage rate and implementing the 2025/2026 budget.
