Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer Joins Community for the City of Orlando’s 25th Annual Bike to Work Day During Florida Bike Month

4-Mile Ride Highlights Future Quick Build Projects and Orlando’s Expanding Cycling Network

WHAT: 
On Thursday, March 5, 2026, Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer will join residents and community partners to kick off the 25th Annual Bike to Work Day in celebration of Florida Bike Month. This event supports the city’s efforts to continue to provide a number of multimodal transit options to make it easier for residents to walk, bike, rail and explore other sustainable commuting options that make Orlando greener, healthier and more connected.   

Mayor Dyer will kick off the group ride at 8 a.m., leading participants on a 4-mile commute. Riders will travel from Festival Park through downtown, finishing at Orlando City Hall Plaza with a post-ride celebration and award presentation where participants can learn more about the latest bike infrastructure projects, connect with local biking organizations and discover valuable resources to support a more bike-friendly Orlando.

  • 7 a.m. - Onsite Registration and Check-in at Festival Park 
  • 8 a.m. - Ride starts at the south exit of Festival Park on Robinson Street  
  • 8:30 a.m. - Ride ends at City Hall Plaza with Celebration and Award Presentation

PARKING: 
Free parking is available in the designated grass area of Festival Park for Bike to Work Day participants. Parking will be accessible through the Livingston Street entrance only. There will be directional signage in and around the parking area.

BIKING IN ORLANDO BACKGROUND: 
Since 2003, Mayor Dyer has helped transform Orlando’s urban environment by investing in multi-modal projects that improve connectivity, such as the Downtown Connector Trail, Colonial Drive Overpass, the Local Loop and Orlando Bicycle Plan Update. Orlando is home to more than 400 miles of urban trails, signed routes and lanes created specifically for biking, with more than 90 miles of these off-street. 

Today, the City of Orlando is recognized as a Silver Bicycle Friendly Community (BFC) by the American League of Bicyclists. The city was recognized for its investments in biking infrastructure and amenities at Orlando City Hall, including safe bike parking, bike repair stations, bike safety training and a bike share program.
