Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer Announces New Citywide Curbside Pickup Program for Businesses
September 15, 2020 – ORLANDO, FL - Today, Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer announced the City of Orlando will launch a citywide Curbside Pick-Up Program tomorrow, September 16, 2020, to give businesses an opportunity to increase their drive-through and to-go operations by designating existing parking spaces as curbside pick-up zones.
“Throughout the global pandemic, our local businesses are facing challenges like they’ve never experienced before,” said Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer. “As a City we want to support them in any way we can and implement innovative and creative programs they can utilize to open and operate safely.”
The Curbside Pick-Up Program aims to increase sales for businesses who have been affected by COVID-19 with the addition of a 15-minute, designated parking space reserved for courier services or customers picking up to-go orders and purchases from their restaurant or shop of choice.
Businesses who would like to participate in the program and designate an existing, adjacent on-street parking spot as a curbside pick-up zone may apply online starting tomorrow.
Once approved, the business will receive complimentary signage from the city marking the business’ requested spot. Due to limited on-street parking in some areas of the city, adjacent businesses interested in the program may be asked to share a spot.
In addition to the Curbside Pickup Program, new signage was installed in downtown Orlando to designate previously selected on-street metered parking spaces as pick-up locations. This new designated signage will give customers picking up a to-go order complimentary parking for 15 minutes.
Restaurant vehicles and vehicles that are clearly marked for a food delivery service can receive 30 minutes complimentary parking in any on-street metered space throughout downtown.
