WHAT:
Honoring and preserving the memory of those impacted by the Pulse tragedy is a delicate, thoughtful process, and the city’s priority is to take a collaborative and transparent approach to the development of the permanent Pulse Memorial.
The process of clearing the site to make way for the permanent Pulse Memorial will continue on Wednesday, March 18, 2026. Crews are scheduled to arrive around 7 a.m. to begin the process of removing the Pulse building, which will start with watering the building to reduce any airborne dust and any other hazard abatement. At approximately 9 a.m., construction crews will begin a controlled dismantling sequence of the exterior structure and continue until completion, which is estimated around 12 p.m.
The entire clearing process is expected to take several weeks and includes the removal of both the Pulse building, the adjacent building and any other structures within the fence to clear the site.
We recognize this will be an emotional time for many in our community. Artifacts from inside the building have already been carefully removed, transported and respectfully preserved in a secure, climate-controlled environment.
Gomez Construction and Borrelli + Partners are currently transforming the conceptual vision developed by the Pulse Memorial Advisory Committee (PMAC), comprised of victims’ families, survivors and community members, into a detailed, buildable design.
The design-build team will continue advancing architectural, structural and landscape components through the next phases of development. The 60% design milestone update is anticipated in May, with construction beginning in September.

MEDIA INFORMATION:
As part of the construction process, an eight-foot-tall fence has been installed along the property line to ensure the safety of visitors and nearby residents and will remain in place for the duration of the construction. The fencing limits visibility, and media are encouraged to access the designated areas around the site perimeter, with parking as shown on the attached map. The city cannot provide locations on private property, which would need to be arranged independently.

Actualización sobre el Monumento Permanente de Pulse
Limpieza del Terreno y Retiro del Edificio
QUÉ:
Honrar y preservar la memoria de las personas impactadas por la tragedia de Pulse es un proceso delicado que requiere sensibilidad y reflexión. Por ello, el Municipio de Orlando ha establecido como prioridad mantener un enfoque colaborativo y transparente en el desarrollo del Monumento Permanente de Pulse.
El proceso de despeje y preparación del terreno para dar paso al monumento continuará el miércoles, 18 de marzo de 2026. El equipo de construcción tienen previsto llegar alrededor de las 7:00 a.m. para iniciar las labores de retiro del edificio de Pulse, comenzando con la aplicación de agua sobre la estructura para reducir el polvo en el aire y atender cualquier medida de mitigación de riesgos. Aproximadamente a las 9:00 a.m., los equipos de construcción comenzarán un desmontaje controlado de la estructura exterior, el cual continuará hasta completarse, estimado alrededor de las 12:00 p.m.
Se anticipa que todo el proceso de limpieza y preparación del sitio tomará varias semanas e incluirá la remoción del edificio de Pulse, la estructura adyacente y cualquier otra construcción dentro del área cercada, con el fin de dejar el terreno listo para la construcción del memorial.
Reconocemos que este será un momento emocional para muchas personas en nuestra comunidad. Los objetos y recuerdos que se encontraban dentro del edificio ya fueron retirados cuidadosamente, trasladados y preservados con respeto en un lugar seguro con control de temperatura.
Actualmente, Gomez Construction y Borrelli + Partners están trabajando para transformar la visión conceptual desarrollada por el Comité Asesor del Monumento Pulse (PMAC), integrado por familiares de las víctimas, sobrevivientes y miembros de la comunidad en un diseño detallado y listo para su construcción.
El equipo de diseño y construcción continuará desarrollando los componentes arquitectónicos, estructurales y paisajísticos durante las próximas fases del proyecto. Se espera presentar la actualización del diseño al 60% en mayo, mientras que el inicio de la construcción está previsto para septiembre 2026.

INFORMACIÓN PARA MEDIOS:
Como parte del proceso de construcción, se instaló una cerca de seguridad de ocho pies de altura alrededor del perímetro de la propiedad para garantizar la seguridad de visitantes y residentes cercanos. Esta cerca permanecerá en su lugar durante todo el periodo de construcción. Debido a esta barrera, la visibilidad del lugar es limitada. Se recomienda a los medios ubicarse en las áreas designadas alrededor del perímetro del sitio, con estacionamiento disponible según se indica en el mapa adjunto. El Municipio de Orlando no puede facilitar acceso a propiedades privadas en el área. Cualquier coordinación para utilizar esos espacios deberá gestionarse directamente con los propietarios.
