Call to Artists: Birds in Focus - District 3
Next date: Sunday, September 06, 2026 | 08:00 AM
to Tuesday, December 15, 2026 | 11:59 PM
The City of Orlando's District 3 is a vibrant urban hub where active neighborhoods, local businesses, and community destinations are closely connected to lakes, trails, gardens, and the wildlife that lives among them. To highlight this everyday intersection of urban life and natural spaces, District 3 Commissioner Roger Chapin is hosting Birds in Focus: District 3, a photography competition in partnership with Faith Arts Village Orlando (FAVO), curated by Jim Hobart.
Orlando photographers are invited to submit images of birds captured within District 3 that reflect the district's distinctive natural character.
Twelve photographs will be selected for exhibition at FAVO on February 5–6, 2027. During the exhibition, attendees will vote to determine first, second, and third place winners. Cash prizes will be awarded: $500 for first place, $250 for second place, and $150 for third place.
Commissioner Chapin will also select one "Commissioner's Choice" photograph, which will be purchased and added to the City of Orlando's art collection for display in the District 3 office.
All twelve exhibited photographs will be featured in a District 3 bird calendar showcasing the wildlife commonly seen throughout the area.
Photographs will be printed and framed at 16" x 24" by the Curator, with framing sponsored by local District 3 businesses, at no cost to the twelve participating artists.
Submissions will be accepted from September 6, 2026 to December 15, 2026.
