Last updated on March 19, 2026
WHAT:
On Thursday, March 19, 2026, Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer, District 6 City Commissioner Bakari F. Burns and the City of Orlando’s Families, Parks and Recreation Department will cut the ribbon to officially reopen the newly renovated playground at Poppy Park.
As part of the city’s ongoing investment in neighborhood parks, the Poppy Park playground is one of 11 park and playground improvements planned across Orlando over the next two years, reinforcing the city’s commitment to creating vibrant, welcoming spaces where families and children can gather, play and stay active.
The playground has been transformed with brand-new playground equipment designed for two different age groups (ages 2–5 and 5–12) and an upgraded drainage system. The improvements include larger play structures with expanded climbing areas, multiple slides and inclusive features such an ADA-accessible swing, ensuring children of all abilities have the opportunity to play together.
