Register for the Teen Police and Fire Academy

Are you a teen interested in learning more about the police and fire departments?

The Police and Fire Departments offer students enrolled in grades 10-12 a free nine-day course. This academy aims to foster relationships between the city's public safety departments and youth in the community.

The academy will cover:

Uniform patrol
Assault & battery
Fire apparatus
Hands-only CPR training
Drug enforcement
College preparedness
Careers in law enforcement and fire safety
Fire hose training
K-9, Motors, Investigations and Training Simulator

2026 Program Dates

Orlando Police Department Teen Police Academy
June 22, 2026 – June 26, 2026

Orlando Fire Department Teen Fire Academy
June 29, 2026 – July 3, 2026

Registration will open in May 2026.

Step 1.Check your eligibility

To apply, you must be:

enrolled in 10th, 11th or 12th grade.
able to attend all sessions.

Step 2.Gather your information

Collect the information you will need to complete the application.

Guardian or parent's contact information.
Your background information.
Answer why you want to attend the academy.
Provide at least two character references - name and address.

Step 3.Submit your application

Registration will open in May 2026.

Step 4.We'll contact you

A representative from the Orlando Police Department will be in touch if you have been accepted into the academy.
