Accessory Dwelling Units
Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs), commonly known as garage apartments, granny flats or in-law suites, are self-contained residential units on the same property as a single-family home.
The City of Orlando has prioritized zoning, land development codes and incentives that encourage the construction of ADUs, which address the housing gap that exists between traditional homeownership and conventional affordable housing. ADUs turn underutilized residential properties into housing opportunities that maintain neighborhood character, ensure affordability and add to the city’s total housing stock.
