Gianna Kim - Windermere High School

Gianna radiates the love, boldness and optimistic characteristics of Martin Luther King Jr. Though faced with harsh life challenges at a young age, she chose to love and show compassion.

She serves to uplift her Asian American community with her uplifting artistic gifts, as well as spiritual and community-based connections. She tutors and encourages her team in the Special Olympics. Gianna has logged 113 community service hours in activities geared toward children. She has used her gift of music to help them express emotions.

She is a member of the Student Government Association, neuroscience club, film club, jazz band and tennis team. Gianna's favorite MLK quote is “I have decided to stick with love. Hate is too great a burden to bear.” This has helped her to overcome feelings of anger and bitterness she once felt in her life.

Future Goals: Gianna’s dream university is University of Florida or an out-of-state school such as Northwestern or Emory to study psychology.
