Ely'cia "Princess" Lorde - Edgewater High School
Princess embodies the legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr. by intentionally making friends with people who have different interests and are different ages and races. Community service helps her expand her awareness of those outside of her culture. She has learned to keep an open mind when addressing looks, race and identity. Her volunteer service includes Special Olympics, administrative office work for the Legal Aid Society and garden projects.
As a junior in high school, Princess is a dually enrolled magnet student at Valencia College. She enjoys reading, writing and drawing. Princess’ favorite MLK quote is: “Darkness cannot drive out darkness, only light can do that.”
Future Goals: Attending North Carolina A&T to study psychology. She has a passion to help remove the negative stigma surrounding mental health. She aspires to become a marriage and family therapist.
