Harinee Sekar - Cypress Creek High School
Harinee has an outgoing and motivating presence as a leader in her school and community Harinee’s greatest strengths are her sensitivity to others and commitment to social justice. A budding intellectual, Harinee is fascinated by new ideas and has a tremendous capacity to weigh many different opinions at the same time. Her goals of building schools abroad and creating access to education in impoverished countries is nothing short of inspiring. She is always thinking about how to make her school and invariably the world a much better place.
Volunteering is important to her and to date she has accumulated almost 2,000 hours of community service. Harinee’s actions mirror many of the same ideals that MLK Jr. taught us. She has learned that even the smallest little gesture such as donating masks to the homeless or making a hand written card to appreciate staff can make a positive impact in their life.
Future Plans: Harinee plans to pursue a career in STEM and hope to attend Johns Hopkins University or Case Western.
