Keep Orlando Beautiful Hosts Evening Community Clean-Up

Last updated on September 14, 2026

WHAT:

On Tuesday, September 15, 2026, Keep Orlando Beautiful (KOB) will bring community volunteers together for an evening clean-up at Sunset Lake, near Lizzie Rodgers Park. As the sun begins to set, KOB staff and more than 100 pre-registered volunteers will gear up with pickers to remove more than three hundred pounds of litter from the shoreline and surrounding park, helping keep the area clean, beautiful and welcoming for the community.

The timing of the event provides a unique opportunity for volunteers to give back during the cooler evening hours while helping protect one of Orlando’s natural spaces. Storm drains flow directly into local waterways, including Sunset Lake, meaning litter left on streets and sidewalks can be carried through storm drains and into the water. Proper disposal of trash helps prevent pollution at its source and protects Orlando’s lakes and waterways.

This sunset clean-up is part of the City of Orlando’s continued efforts to enhance quality of life, support economic growth, promote environmental responsibility and expand access to sustainability services across the community.
