2026 Annual POW-MIA Recognition Ceremony
Last updated on September 18, 2026
WHAT:
Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer will join City Commissioners and the Mayor’s Veterans Advisory Council to host the annual POW-MIA Recognition Ceremony honoring United States military prisoners of war and those still missing in action as part of National POW/MIA Recognition Day.
This year’s ceremony will feature a panel discussion highlighting the lived experiences of POW families. Attendees will hear directly from children and family members of prisoners of war whose experiences span conflicts from World War II through the Vietnam and Iraq wars. The discussion will provide a personal perspective on the sacrifices made not only by those who served, but also by the families who endured uncertainty, separation and the lasting impacts of their loved ones’ captivity.
The annual ceremony reaffirms the city's commitment to honoring the service and sacrifice of our nation’s military members, supporting their families and ensuring that prisoners of war and those still missing in action are never forgotten.
