Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer, City Commissioners, Orlando Police Chief Eric D. Smith and Elected Officials Will Unveil New Roadway Sign Honoring Orlando Police Officer Kevin Valencia
WHAT: Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer, City Commissioners, State Senator Geraldine Thompson, State Representative Bruce Antone, State Representative Rita Harris, Orlando Police Chief Eric D. Smith and Orlando Police Officer Kevin Valencia’s family will join the community to unveil a new roadway sign during a dedication ceremony. In July 2023, The 2023 Florida Legislature designated a portion of Kirkman Road between Conroy Road and Vineland Road as “Officer Kevin Valencia Memorial Highway” in honor of his dedication to the community and years of service with the Orlando Police Department. In 2021, Orlando Police Officer Kevin Valencia passed away from critical injuries sustained in the line of duty in 2018 after he responded to a domestic violence call. Officer Valencia was tragically shot and fought for his life for over two years since responding to the incident.
