Points of Impact examines the ways public art enters the life of a city. JEFRË’s monumental works are created in response to the communities, histories, and environments of the places in which they reside, but their meaning continues to develop after installation. They become meeting places, points of orientation, symbols of civic identity, and settings for experiences the artist cannot fully anticipate. As JEFRË has said, “Once a public artwork belongs to a place, it also belongs to the people who experience it.”
This exhibition brings together models, photographs, architectural panels, drawings, and studies representing projects developed both locally and globally. Together, they form a community of works connected by JEFRË’s ideas about place, identity, and public experience.
These objects are not presented as substitutes for the monumental works. They are vehicles for understanding the ideas behind them. They reveal how an initial image develops through drawing, scale, material, fabrication, architecture, and public dialogue before becoming part of the physical and emotional landscape of a community.
