Clogging at Beardall Senior Center

Next date: Tuesday, November 10, 2026 | 06:30 PM to 09:00 PM

Whether you are a beginner or an advanced clogger, there is a place for you here. Our instructors make each session fun.

Clogging is an American folk dance that originated in the Appalachian Mountains, where dancers use their feet percussively like an instrument to create audible rhythms against the floor. It developed from a blend of European step dances (such as Irish, Scottish, and English traditions), African American percussive rhythms, and Native American footwork.

Dancers wear special shoes equipped with a double layer of metal taps (known as "jingle taps") on the ball and heel that clink together to amplify sound. Traditionally danced to bluegrass, old-time string bands, and fiddle tunes, this class also incorporates modern, upbeat music styles.
