City of Orlando’s Black History Month Community Celebration Event
Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer, District 5 City Commissioner Shan Rose, District 6 City Commissioner Bakari Burns and the Orlando City Council invite you to Orlando's Black History Month Community Celebration.
Signature Sponsor Bank of America, in partnership with WUCF TV/PBS and other sponsors, have joined the city to present a community screening of GOSPEL!, a PBS docuseries created by Dr. Henry Louis “Skip” Gates, Jr., Stacy L Holman, Shayla Harris on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, from 5:30 - 8:30 p.m. at the New Covenant Baptist Church of Orlando on2210 South Rio Grande Avenue.
This free event will include a reception with entertainment, appetizers and performances by the City Beautiful Voices, our city employee choir. Before and after the documentary screening, the audience will interact with an engaging panel, of community leaders and enjoy gospel performances.

GOSPEL! Series
The full-length GOSPEL! series takes viewers on a journey to understand the rich history of Black spirituality through sermons and songs that have uplifted and inspired those on the front lines of change. Musical styles come and go, but one sound has been a constant source of strength, courage, and wisdom from the pulpit to the community: GOSPEL!
At 6:45 p.m. the GOSPEL! screening and discussion will begin.
