The City of Orlando is constructing a permanent Pulse Memorial to honor the 49 lives taken, the survivors, the victims’ families, and the LGBTQ+ and Orlando communities forever impacted by the tragic mass shooting on June 12, 2016. Designed as a place of remembrance, reflection, and healing, the memorial will provide a lasting tribute to those impacted while bringing the community together to honor their memories.

Encompassing approximately 0.9 acres, the memorial plaza will feature an Angel Ellipse Canopy, a private gathering area, reflecting pool, fountain wall, and prism tower. The project will also include a 3,000-square-foot visitor pavilion, parking, landscaping, hardscape, site improvements, and supporting infrastructure.

Through a collaborative Memorial Engagement Process, the city worked closely with survivors and victims’ families to help shape a memorial that reflects their wishes for a meaningful and dignified place to grieve, remember, and find comfort. The completed memorial will offer a dedicated space for families, survivors, first responders, and visitors to gather, reflect, and pay tribute to the 49 angels.

More than a memorial, this permanent space will stand as a symbol of love, resilience, unity, and Orlando’s enduring commitment to being an inclusive community where everyone is welcomed.

Once work begins temporary road closures will be required at the Kaley Street and Esther Street crossings to accommodate construction activity. However, businesses will have access to their driveways and entrances throughout the project’s duration. There is a potential for an increase in noise and dust during project hours; however, the contractor will work to minimize any disturbances. Solid waste, recycling, mail, and other services will continue as scheduled. Should an emergency occur, first responders and emergency vehicles will have priority access.
