Are you interested in helping neighborhood children get to and from school safely?
The City of Orlando hires school crossing guards to protect and assist children walking and biking to over 40 schools within the City of Orlando.
School Crossing Guards start at $15.45 an hour and work a split shift of an hour in the morning and an hour in the afternoon. Cash allowances paid for perfect attendance monthly. Training and protective safety equipment provided at no expense to the guard.
To become a school crossing guard, you must:
Be 18 years of age or older
Have reliable transportation
Work a split shift of 1 hour in the morning and 1 in the afternoon
Read, write and communicate in English
Be a safety-minded and alert individual
Be legally able to work in the United States
Pass a physical, including drug screen
Pass an agility test and complete the state-mandated training for School Crossing Guards
Be able to work close to traffic and in adverse weather conditions such as heat, rain and cold
Live near City of Orlando elementary and middle schools or be willing to travel
