Affordable Housing Advisory Committee Reviews the established policies and procedures, ordinances, land development regulations, etc., and recommends to Mayor and City Council specific initiatives to encourage or facilitate affordable housing.
Appearance Review Board Reviews applications for certificates of appearance approval and make recommendations to Council on whether to approve, approve with conditions or deny such applications.
Audit Board Advises City Council on financial and audit matters. Four members must have financial experience.
Board of Zoning Adjustment Makes recommendations on certain special exceptions and variances to Orlando City Code Chapter 65 and appeals from determinations by the Zoning and Appearance Review Officials.
Building & Fire Codes Board of Appeal Hears appeals from decisions by the Fire Chief and Building Official in resolving conflicts between the Building and Fire Prevention Codes.
Certification Appeals Board The Certification Appeals Board was set up to hear and conduct appeals on behalf of minority and women-owned business enterprises appealing the decision of the City Minority/Women Business Enterprise Office regarding certification of minority and women-owned business enterprises.
Chapter 57 Review Board Reviews complaints of racial, religious, gender and ethnic discrimination as well as appeals from denials of minority and women-owned business certification.
Civil Service Board Administers and enforces the Civil Service Act and Code of Rules for firefighters and police officers; provides examinations, maintains eligibility lists, conducts investigations and rules on appeals for non-disciplinary matters.
Criminal Nuisance Abatement Board Hears complaints of public nuisances on property where there is drug or prostitution related offenses, crimes at any pain-management clinic, dealing in stolen property, or gang activity. The Board also has the power to levy fines and request foreclosure, when appropriate.
Downtown Development Board Works to revitalize and preserve property values, reduce present and prevent future deterioration, and encourage development in the district. Five members with principal residence, employment, place of business, or ownership of realty in the development area.
Downtown South Neighborhood Improvement District Advisory Council Assists the Board of Directors in governing the affair of the district. Each member must own property in the district, represent a corporate owner of property within the district, or reside in the district.
Families, Parks & Recreation Advisory Board Advises and assists Council in establishing city-wide comprehensive system of supervised recreational, cultural & educational facilities & programs; advises as to the proper care & management of facilities & charging rental fees for use of such facilities; establishes a comprehensive system of supervised recreation; considers City funding requests; enlists citizens' support.
Harry P. Leu Gardens Board of Trustees Controls, operates, manages and maintains Harry P. Leu Gardens.
Historic Preservation Board Promotes welfare of city through preservation and protection of historic structures, sites, monuments and areas. Recommends to City Council establishment of historic districts, designation of historic landmarks and holds public hearings.
Mennello Museum Board of Trustees Advises the City on development, management and operation issues for the Mennello Museum of American Art.
Municipal Planning Board Local planning agency responsible for the Growth Management Program; prepares a comprehensive plan of municipal improvements; reviews plats; recommends zoning and other land development regulations; coordinates land development and regulatory functions of other City boards by consolidating recommendations to City Council.
Nominating Board Recommends qualified individuals for appointments to City and Multi-jurisdictional boards. Recruits applicants with the interest, expertise and time for board service.
Other Boards and Committees Other advisory boards including internal boards and town review committees.
Public Art Advisory Board Establishes a Public Art Master Plan; recommends specific projects, selection of art works, landscaping and architectural enhancements.
Vehicle for Hire Appeal Board Acts as an advisor to the Mayor & City Council on matters concerning the Vehicle for Hire industry and services; adopts rules and regulations to govern its operation and activities; hears appeals from an administrative decision or interpretation of the Vehicles for Hire Administrator.
