The City’s contractor, Cathcart Construction Company, will conduct a sanitary sewer removal and replacement project in the College Park neighborhood. The project area is on Vassar Street, between Edgewater Drive and Ann Arbor Avenue.

We expect the contractor to complete the project in three weeks. However, adverse weather and unforeseen circumstances can create delays, prolonging the project.

The project is necessary to remove and replace a 627-ft of gravity sewer line on Vassar Street, between Ann Arbor Avenue and Edgewater Drive. Cathcart will use the opportunity to remove and replace the sanitary sewer laterals in the public right-of-way. Completing the project will lessen opportunities for future problems and help improve efficiency for the City’s sanitary sewer system.

The area marked in orange is the approximate location where resident can expect to see crews and equipment. Please use caution when traveling through the area. There is a possibility for on-street parking restrictions for the duration of the project.

Project hours are between 7 am and 5:30 pm, Monday through Friday.

Once the project begins, there will be a temporary road closure on Vassar Street between Ann Arbor Avenue and Edgewater Drive. The City’s contractor will make a concerted effort to coordinate with City residents to maintain access to their properties within the project area. There may be times when a driveway or entrance is temporarily impacted as the project progresses.

There is potential for an increase in noise during project hours. A sanitary sewer bypass system may be necessary to provide continuous sewer service during the project. Should a bypass system become necessary, the contractor does not anticipate using the bypass system at night. There should be no interruptions in sanitary sewer service. However, in the unlikely event this should occur, constituents may dial 407.246.2213 to reach the City’s Water Reclamation Division.

Should an emergency occur, first responders and emergency vehicles will have priority access.

The City’s contractor will coordinate with the City’s Solid Waste Division to maintain solid waste, recycling, and yard waste collection. Should a missed collection occur, a constituent may call the Solid Waste Division by phone at 407.246.2314, and the City’s Solid Waste Division will make another attempt for collection.
