The Raleigh Street sanitary improvement project is necessary to accommodate the city's growth and provide sufficient wastewater services to the immediate area.

The city's Public Works Department has entered into a contract with Metro Equipment to remove an existing sanitary sewer line and replace it with a new one. The new sewer pipeline will have an increase pipe diameter of twelve and fifteen inches. Once the project is complete, the new pipe with increased diameter size will provide reliable and efficient sanitary sewer services into the foreseeable future.

Once the project beings, there will be an impact on Walgreens and the Public Storage Building's entrance near Kirkman Road. The contractor will remove sections of the existing sidewalk to remove and replace the sanitary sewer piping within the public right-of-way. Once work is  complete a new sidewalk will be installed.

Later in the project, the outside eastbound lane will be closed along Raleigh Street and unavailable. During the project, the entrance of Amara Apartments, Resource Avenue, and the entrance to 24-hour fitness will be impacted temporarily.

Project hours are between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. There will be occasional overnight and weekend work throughout this project. Residents and commuters will notice crews and equipment working in the street and within the public right-of-way. During the project, residents will experience an increase in noise and commute times.
