The rehabilitation of Lift Station-45 will lessen opportunities for future problems and assist in maintaining efficiency for the City's sanitary sewer system.
The City is committed to efficient and reliable utilities for our constituents. To maintain that commitment, Public Works is proactively and systematically taking steps to improve the sanitary sewer services it provides. In the month of March, Public Works will begin the complete rehabilitation of Lift Station 45. The project area is near Fairvilla Road.
During the project, the City’s contractor SawCross Contractors and Engineers will build a new facility to house new pumps and other equipment. The contractor will use this opportunity to install an odor control system to remove unpleasant smells. A new diesel back-up generator and fuel tank are included in this project to keep the lift station operational during a potential power loss.
We anticipate this project will take 16 months to complete. Adverse weather and unforeseen circumstances can create delays and increase the project's duration.
The original lift station was constructed in the 1963 and updated in 1988. New configurations, equipment, and technologies are now available to improve efficiency and reliability. Completion of the rehabilitation of Lift Station 45 will lessen opportunities for future problems and assist in maintaining efficiency for the City's sanitary sewer system.
There will be no interruption in sanitary sewer services while the project is in progress. At this time, no road closures are necessary. Work hours are 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. We expect the direct impact on nearby businesses to be minimal. Nearby businesses may experience a potential increase in noise during project hours. Please know adverse weather and unforeseen circumstances can increase the project's duration. Solid waste, recycling, mail and other services will continue as scheduled. Should an emergency occur, first responders and emergency vehicles will have priority access.
