The city's Public Works Department is currently in the design phase for a stormwater improvement project on East Jefferson Street, Lakewood Drive, East Washington Street and Primrose Drive. During or after an intense rainstorm, ponding occurs within the roadway. This project will lessen incidents of flooding in the immediate neighborhood.

After City Council approval, a competitive bid process and award of contract, the city's contractor will make multiple improvements to the neighborhood.

Improvements consist of a new stormwater system, rebuilding and repaving of the roadways, sidewalk improvements, driveway apron improvements and curbing. The proposed project will improve neighborhood safety.

Once a contractor is selected, and work begins, constituents will notice crews and equipment working in the street and the public right-of-way. Residents may experience closures and detours throughout the project.

There may be times when a driveway is temporarily unavailable as the project progresses. However, the contractor will work with homeowners and make certain access is maintained. There is potential for a temporary restriction for on-street parking once the project begins.

Solid waste, recycling, mail and other services will continue uninterrupted. Should an emergency occur, first responders and emergency vehicles will have priority access.
