The rehabilitation of brick streets presents an opportunity to remove damaged brick pavers and will assist in making roadways more navigable.

Beginning early September, the City of Orlando's contractor, JMD Global, will rehabilitate the brick pavers on East Livingston Street between Highland Avenue and Mills Avenue. The Orlando Utilities Commission (OUC) will also use this opportunity to replace existing water mains at previously identified locations. We expect to complete this project in five months. Please be advised, adverse weather and unforeseen circumstances can create delays or prolong the project.

This project is funded through the Neighborhood Bond Fund and Orlando Utilities Commission - (OUC).

OUC, in coordination with the City's Public Works Department, identified locations where portions of OUC's water mains require replacement.

Below are the locations where work will occur:

1) The intersection of E Livingston Street and Cathcart Avenue.

  • Once work begins, an excavation will occur in the roadway to replace an existing water main. A temporary fill or asphalt may be used to temporarily restore the roadway until the City's contractor reaches the location to rehabilitate the brick roadway.

2) The intersection of E Livingston Street and Broadway Avenue.

  • Once work begins, an excavation will occur at the southern crosswalk at the intersection. Work will then continue in the public right-of-way on the south side of East Livingston Street heading west towards Highland Avenue. A temporary fill or asphalt may be used to temporarily restore the roadway until the City's contractor reaches the location to rehabilitate the brick roadway.

3) The final location is the intersection of E Livingston Street and Highland Avenue.

  • Once work begins, an excavation will occur in the roadway to replace an existing water main. A temporary fill or asphalt may be used to temporarily restore the roadway until the City's contractor reaches the location to rehabilitate the brick roadway.

Please know, OUC and the City's Public Works department may include additional locations to the project, should unforeseen circumstances be identified.

Project hours are between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Should the contractor experience unforeseen circumstances, work may occur on Saturdays only.

Please know, there is potential for an increase in noise during project hours.

Residents should prepare for temporary roadway, bike trail, and pedestrian sidewalk closures. There may be times when a driveway or walkway may be impacted temporarily as the project progresses. JMD Global and OUC will coordinate with residents should this occur. Commuters should prepare for potential delays that may increase commute times.

In the event of an emergency, first responders and emergency vehicles will have priority access.

JMD Global and OUC will coordinate with the City's Solid Waste Division to maintain recycling and solid waste collection. If there is a missed collection, the Solid Waste Division will make another attempt for collection.
