On Monday, October 4 - October 11 between 9 PM - 6 AM, Dean Road will be completely closed from W McCulloch Road to University Boulevard for approximately one week. Please use caution when approaching the area. Commuters may experience an increase in commute times due to detours around roadwork.
The Dean Road Project will preserve the existing sewer system's integrity and increase the pipe's longevity.
The City of Orlando's Public Works Department will oversee an essential sanitary sewer upgrade project along Dean Road. The project area is located between Winder Trail and McCulloch Road. The city will be lining approximately 1.7 miles of 72" and 78" inch sanitary sewer pipes along Dean Road in unincorporated northeast Orange County.
The project is necessary to preserve the sewer system's integrity and to increase the pipe's longevity as it is the sole sanitary sewer system that carries wastewater from the City of Orlando to the Iron Bridge Regional Water Reclamation Facility. The completion of this project will ensure safe and reliable service and reduce the likelihood of future problems.
We anticipate project completion by 2021. Unforeseen circumstances and adverse weather can delay or increase the project's duration.
Once the project begins, there will be various lane closures along Dean Road. Just south of University Boulevard a portion of Dean Road will be reduced to one lane in both directions for the northbound and southbound lanes.
The project will have open cuts in the center line of the roadway. Two-way traffic will be maintained at reduced speeds.
We strongly recommend that residents plan their travel routes in advance. Residents will experience delays that increase their commute times.
Project hours are between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Some overnight work may be scheduled as the project progresses. We anticipate there will be a minimal direct impact on residential communities. However, we do expect that there will be an increase in commute times once the project begins.
Residents will notice crews and equipment entering and exiting the project area. It is not uncommon to experience an increase in noise once the project begins.
